Idempotency keys
September 2nd, 2026
An idempotency key lets you retry a request without performing the same operation twice. The quote and funds endpoints now accept one in the Idempotency-Key header.
What's new
- Where it applies:
POST /quotes,POST /quotes/carbon,POST /quotes/nature,POST /funds/allocationsandPOST /funds/allocations/{id}/reverse. Other endpoints accept the header and ignore it. - Choosing a key: any printable ASCII value of 1 to 255 characters, unique to the operation. ekko compares the request body too, so the same key with a different body is rejected with a
422rather than replayed. - Retries and scope: ekko records a key only when the operation succeeds, so a failed request can be retried with the same value. A
409carriesRetry-Afterwhen the first request is still running. Keys are scoped to your organisation and retained for one week.
See Idempotency for the retry rules.
